Brian Knuuttila is a lawyer and a police officer. He decided that despite his interest in political affairs, “his bid for senator was the first and last one”.
His grandparents came from near the Arctic Circle in northern Finland. “Grandfather Jalmari drank himself to death, or I don’t know if it was poor and insufficient food.” His mother died of tuberculosis at an early stage. Brian lived with his uncle Armas until 1972. “That’s when the Finnish language disappeared from my life,” he says
