Tapiola Village Farmington Hills 2010

10th Finglish trip July 2010 #6

Founded in 1966, the Finnish Center dedicated their Cultural Center in September 1974, in Farmington Hills, Michigan with the objective of promoting and preserving the Finnish culture as well as its social and educational activities.

In 1975 an elder's housing committee was transformed into the FCA Senior Citizens' Housing Corporation. The Housing Corporation proceeded to develop the Tapiola Village housing for the elderly project in 1986 and the Freedom Square Retirement Village in 1991.

The Finlandia Gardens complement the refurbished interior of the center. These expansive gardens are open to the public and offer many opportunities for relaxation and pleasant moments in a quiet setting.
